A two-player tank duel in a maze where shells bounce off the walls. Play a friend on the same keyboard or take on the computer. Every shot you fire stays live and can come back around the corner at you. First to five wins.
About Tank Tussle
Tank Tussle is a duel between a red tank and a blue tank inside a small maze, and it is at its best with two people at one keyboard. The rules take ten seconds to learn. Each tank can turn, drive forward and back, and fire. One hit destroys a tank and wins the point. The first player to five points wins the match.
What makes it interesting is the shells. They do not stop at walls. They bounce, again and again, for about six seconds before they fizzle out, and they do not care who fired them. A shot down a corridor can rattle around a corner and catch an opponent who never saw you. It can also come straight back, and plenty of rounds end with a player destroyed by their own shell. Each tank can have four shells in the air at once, which is enough to fill a corridor with trouble and enough to trap yourself.
Every round is fought in a freshly generated maze, so there is no layout to memorise. Sometimes it is open and the round is over in a few seconds; sometimes it is a warren of dead ends and the game becomes a stalk. If both tanks are destroyed, the round is a draw and nobody scores.
Played alone, the blue tank is driven by the computer. It finds its way through the maze toward you, lines up shots when it can see you and tries to step out of the way of incoming shells. On a touch screen each player gets a set of buttons at the bottom. Wins and losses against the computer are saved.

How to play Tank Tussle
Choose one player or two on the menu. Drive your tank through the maze and fire at the other tank. Tips & tricks
- Never fire straight at a wall in front of you. The shell comes back along the same line.
- Shoot along corridors at an angle so the shell zig-zags down them. It is much harder to dodge than a straight shot.
- After firing, move. Your own shells are the most common cause of death.
- You only get four shells at a time. Save one for when the other tank appears.
Frequently asked questions
Can two people play Tank Tussle on one keyboard?
Yes. Choose 2 Players on the menu. The red tank uses W, A, S, D and Q; the blue tank uses the arrow keys and Enter. On a touch screen each player gets their own buttons.
Can my own shell destroy me?
Yes. A shell is harmless to the tank that fired it only for the first instant. After that it destroys whichever tank it touches, so a bounced shot can come back and hit you.
How long do shells last?
About six and a half seconds. They bounce off every wall in that time, and they flash red for the last second before disappearing.
Does Tank Tussle save my progress?
Partly. Tank Tussle keeps a running win/loss tally and your settings in this browser's local storage; there is no level progress to save. Nothing is uploaded and no account is involved — clearing your browser data is what resets it.
