The seven stones street game. Knock a stack of seven flat stones down with a ball, then run, pick the stones up and rebuild the stack in the chalk circle while the other team throws the ball at you.
About Pittu Smash
Pittu Smash is the courtyard game known across South Asia as pittu, lagori or seven stones, turned into a quick top-down arcade game. Every round has two halves. First you stand at the chalk line with three balls and a swinging aim arrow, and you throw at a stack of seven flat stones in the middle of the yard. Hit it and the stack bursts apart, with stones skidding off in every direction.
Then the game turns around. The other team gets the ball, and your job is to rebuild the stack before they hit you with it. You run to a stone to pick it up, carry up to three at a time, and stand in the chalk circle to set them down one by one. All the while a thrower is lining you up. A white dashed line shows where they are aiming, it turns red a moment before the ball leaves their hand, and that moment is your window to step off the line. A ball that misses has to be fetched before it can be thrown again, which buys you a few seconds.
Get hit and you lose a heart and drop whatever you were carrying. Place the seventh stone and the round is yours, with a bonus for speed. Later rounds add more fielders, a second ball, faster throws and throwers who aim ahead of where you are running. Three hearts, and the best score and furthest round are saved.

How to play Pittu Smash
Throw the ball at the stack when the aim arrow points at it; you have three balls per round. Once the stack falls, run over stones to pick them up, three at most, and stand inside the chalk circle to stack them. Watch the throwers: a red line means the ball is about to be thrown along it, so move off the line. Being hit costs a heart and drops your stones. Rebuild all seven to win the round.
Controls
Desktop: Space or click to throw, arrow keys or WASD to run, P to pause, M to mute. Touch: tap to throw, then hold a finger on the screen and the runner moves toward it.
Tips & tricks
- Throw when the arrow is dead centre. A clean hit on the middle of the stack pays up to 50 points.
- Stacking takes a moment per stone and you must stand still in the circle, so start right after a throw has missed.
- Carrying three stones makes you slower. With a thrower already aiming at you, two quick trips can be safer than one heavy one.
- When a line turns red, step sideways across it instead of running along it.
Frequently asked questions
What is pittu, or seven stones?
It is a traditional street game played in India, Pakistan and nearby countries, also called lagori, pithu or satoliya. One team knocks down a pile of seven flat stones with a ball and tries to rebuild it while the other team tries to hit them with the ball.
How do I avoid being hit in Pittu Smash?
Each thrower shows a dashed aiming line that turns red just before the throw. Once it is red the direction is fixed, so moving sideways off the line makes the ball miss.
How many stones can I carry at once?
Up to three. Each stone you carry slows you down a little, and all carried stones are dropped if the ball hits you.
Does Pittu Smash save my progress?
