About Zero One
Zero One is a binary logic puzzle — the classic Takuzu, dressed in dusk. Every cell of the grid wants either a glowing sun or a pale crescent moon, and three rules decide which: no three identical symbols may touch in a row or column, every row and column must hold exactly as many suns as moons, and no two rows (or columns) can end up identical. Tap a cell to cycle it through sun, moon, and back to empty; the locked, darker cells are your starting clues.
The pleasure is in the chain reactions. You spot two moons side by side, so the next cell has to be a sun — and that sun fills a row's quota, which forces four more cells, which suddenly cracks a column you'd been staring at. When you slip, the offending cells glow softly red instead of punishing you, and the hint button doesn't just fill a square: it tells you the one-line reason why that cell was forced.

Inside Zero One: what we checked
The numbers below come from Zero One's own source code, and the screenshots are from our own test run of the game (20 October 2026).
- There are 60 levels: 18 on 6 × 6 boards, 18 on 8 × 8, 14 on 10 × 10 and 10 on 12 × 12. Each level has one fixed solution built into the game, so the puzzle is pure logic with no guessing.
- Levels unlock in order. Finishing one unlocks the next, and the level list shows the stars you earned on each, out of 180 in total.
- Stars depend on hints: no hints is 3 stars, one or two hints is 2, three or more is 1. A replay only ever raises a level's stars.
- A hint first corrects any wrong sun or moon you have placed. Otherwise it fills in a cell that the rules force, with a one-line reason, such as a row already holding all its suns. If no cell is forced it simply reveals one from the finished board.
- Pressing R resets the level and also resets the hint count, so a level you finish after a reset can still earn 3 stars.
- Keys: arrows move, Space or Enter cycles empty, sun, moon, 1 places a sun, 2 a moon, 0 or Backspace clears, U undoes, H hints. Your unlocked level and stars are kept in this browser.

How to play Zero One
Tap or click any open cell to cycle it: empty, sun, moon, empty again. Follow three rules — never three of the same symbol consecutively in a row or column, equal suns and moons in every line, and no two identical rows or columns. Darker cells are fixed clues and can't be changed. Fill the whole grid without any red glows to finish the level; solving without hints earns three stars.

Tips & tricks
- Scan for pairs first: two suns together mean the cells on both ends of the pair must be moons.
- A gap between two matching symbols is always forced — sun, blank, sun means that blank is a moon.
- Count each line: once a row holds its full quota of one symbol, every remaining cell in it flips to the other.
- Save hints for real dead ends; each one explains the logic, so you learn a rule you can reuse next time.
