Two wobbly fighters, one rooftop terrace, two buttons each. Jump and shoot with a rotating arsenal of sniper, spring glove, firecracker rocket, cricket bat and snowball bazooka, and knock your rival off the edge. First to five wins.

About Terrace Duel

Terrace Duel is a one-screen physics fight on an Indian rooftop at sunset: water tank, TV antenna, a clothesline of flapping shirts and a startled pigeon, with the city skyline glowing behind. Each fighter has just two inputs, jump and shoot, and the whole game lives in how those two things push bodies around. Shooting kicks you backwards, getting hit shoves you toward the edge, jumping tilts you forward, and the terrace ends on both sides. Whoever leaves the roof loses the round.

Every round brings a new weapon with its own rhythm. The snowball bazooka sprays light, fast hits that add up. The spring glove and the cricket bat only work up close, so the fight becomes a nervous dance at the centre line. The sniper fires one huge shot with a long reload, which turns each duel into a game of chicken. The firecracker rocket arcs slowly and hurts everyone caught in the blast, including the one who fired it. Learning what each weapon does to footing is the real skill, and a slow-motion knockout replays every mistake.

Play solo against a computer opponent that reacts with human delay and gets sharper as the match goes on, or share one keyboard with a friend for the best version of the game. Matches are first to five, with an all-time tally saved between sessions.

How to play Terrace Duel

Each round starts with both fighters on the terrace and a new weapon. Press jump to hop, and shoot to fire or swing. Every shot pushes you backwards and every hit pushes your opponent, so use the recoil to keep your balance and time your shots to send them over the edge. A fighter who falls off the roof loses the round, and the first to five rounds wins the match. In two-player mode both players share one keyboard; on a phone each player gets jump and shoot buttons on their side of the screen.

Controls

Player 1: W to jump, E or S to shoot. Player 2: Up arrow to jump, Enter or Right Shift to shoot. P pauses, M mutes. Touch: big JUMP and SHOOT buttons at the bottom, one pair per player in two-player mode.

Tips & tricks

  • Recoil is a tool: fire away from the edge to push yourself back to safety when you are about to fall.
  • With the sniper, let the other player shoot first. Their long reload is your free window.
  • The rocket's blast hurts you too, so fire it from the far side of the roof and jump as it lands.
  • Against the glove and the bat, hold the centre line and jump over the swing, then hit them as they land.

Frequently asked questions

Can two people play Terrace Duel on one keyboard?

Yes. Pick 2 Players on the start screen. Player 1 uses W to jump and E or S to shoot, player 2 uses the Up arrow to jump and Enter or Right Shift to shoot. On a phone each player has their own jump and shoot buttons.

What does Terrace Duel save?

An all-time win tally for you against the computer and for player 1 against player 2, plus your mute setting. It is stored in your browser on the device you play on.

How do I beat the computer opponent?

It reacts with a short delay and gets harder as the match goes on. Bait it into shooting first with the sniper, use recoil to steady yourself near the edge, and jump over the melee weapons rather than trading hits.

Does Terrace Duel save my progress?

Partly. Terrace Duel keeps a running win/loss tally and your settings in this browser's local storage; there is no level progress to save. Nothing is uploaded and no account is involved — clearing your browser data is what resets it.
