About Peg Drop
Peg Drop is the Plinko itch, distilled. You nudge a drop point along the top rail, release a glowing ball, and then it's out of your hands — it clatters through a triangular thicket of pegs, throwing off little blue sparks with every hit, and tumbles into one of twelve scoring slots at the bottom. The middle slots are safe and stingy. The far edges pay a screaming 25x, but the odds of your ball drifting all the way out there are exactly as slim as they feel, which is the whole delicious tension.
The core loop is a push-your-luck decision made ten times a round: aim for the reliable center to bank a target-beating total, or gamble on an edge and pray the pegs cooperate. There's real physics here — restitution, spin, a gentle anti-stall nudge so nothing ever wedges — so no two drops trace the same path. That moment when a ball kisses the last peg and skips one slot wider into a 10x is genuinely thrilling.

Where Peg Drop comes from
The chip-down-a-pegboard game is best known as Plinko, created by executive producer Frank Wayne for CBS's The Price Is Right, where it debuted on 3 January 1983 with a $25,000 top prize and was named for the sound the chip makes on the pegs. The board is a version of the Galton board, the 'bean machine' the Victorian statistician Francis Galton used to show how randomly deflected balls settle into a bell curve. Inside Peg Drop: what we checked
The numbers below come from Peg Drop's own source code, and the screenshots are from our own test run of the game (20 October 2026).
- Every ball scores 100 times the slot it lands in. The twelve slots read 25×, 10×, 5×, 3×, 2×, 1× across to the middle, then 1×, 2×, 3×, 5×, 10×, 25× back out, so the big payouts are at the two edges and the middle pays the least.
- Round mode gives you 10 balls and a score target. Round 1 asks for 1,600; each round you clear raises the target by 700.
- Missing the target does not move you on: you retry the same round. Clearing it moves you to the next one.
- In Endless mode the balls do not run out, so you simply play for a high score.
- You can have at most 6 balls on the board at once, and drops are spaced at least a tenth of a second apart.
- Arrow keys move the aim, Space or Enter drops; with the mouse or touch you drag to aim and release to drop. Round and Endless best scores are kept separately in this browser.

How to play Peg Drop
Move your aim across the top with the mouse or your finger, then click, tap, or press Space to release a ball. It bounces down through the pegs on its own and lands in a slot that pays its multiplier times a base value. In Round mode you get ten balls to beat the target; in Endless you just keep dropping for a high score.

Tips & tricks
- The center slots are almost guaranteed points; lean on them to lock in the target before you gamble.
- Aiming slightly off-center often walks the ball toward an edge better than aiming dead at the wall.
- Watch how the first few balls scatter, then bias your drop point toward the side that's been paying.
- In Round mode, do the math: if the target's close, take safe center drops; if you're behind, swing for a 25x edge.
