About Color Echo
Color Echo is a memory-and-rhythm game built around four glowing pads, each with its own color, symbol, and musical tone. Every round the game adds one more flash to the sequence, then hands the pattern back to you to repeat from memory. The tempo quietly creeps faster as your run climbs, so a chain that felt comfortable at round five turns into a real test of focus by round fifteen. Switch on Strict mode when you want zero margin for error, chase a new best round, and let your ears do as much of the work as your eyes.
Inside Color Echo: what we checked
The numbers below come from Color Echo's own source code, and the screenshots are from our own test run of the game (20 October 2026).
- The pattern is one growing list. Each round adds one random pad to the end and replays the whole thing from the start, so round 7 means a seven-step pattern.
- You must repeat it in order with no mistakes allowed; the first wrong pad ends the run. Your round counts as cleared only when you finish the whole pattern.
- The playback speeds up as you go: each step starts 640 ms after the last in round 1, 34 ms quicker each round, down to a floor of 220 ms, reached around round 14.
- Strict mode (the toggle under the pads, or X) restarts a new game automatically about a second after a mistake instead of waiting for you.
- The Replay pattern button (or R) shows the current pattern again as often as you like, and nothing in the code limits or penalises it.
- Pads can be pressed with Q, W, A and S (matching their corners), with 1 to 4, or with the arrow keys. Your best round and your Strict mode setting are kept in this browser.

How to play Color Echo
Watch the pads light up and listen to their tones, then tap them back in the exact same order. Each round adds one more step and a little more speed; a single wrong pad ends your run (or restarts it instantly in Strict mode). Your longest correct sequence is saved as your best round.
Controls
Mouse/touch: tap the four pads. Keyboard: Q (green triangle), W (red square), A (blue circle), S (yellow star) — or use 1-4, or Arrow keys (Up/Right/Left/Down). Enter starts a new game, R replays the current pattern, X toggles Strict mode, M mutes.
Tips & tricks
- Hum or say the tones as they play — pitch is often easier to recall than color, and each pad has a fixed note.
- Don't rush your echo: the clock only matters during playback, so deliberate taps beat panicked ones.
- Chunk long sequences into groups of three or four, the way you'd remember a phone number.
- Use Replay pattern (R) early on to lock in a tricky sequence before it grows even longer.
