A deep, text-and-numbers idle RPG: level skills by working, fighting monsters, gathering resources and crafting gear, then rest at a bed to heal up and keep the clock moving. Character creation is purely cosmetic — the grind is what matters.

About Idle Realms

Idle Realms is a dense, numbers-first idle RPG whose character creator is pure flavor — name, height, age and race are purely cosmetic and change nothing about your stats. What actually matters is the skill list: swing an axe, pick, sickle, shovel or fishing rod to gather materials, or step into combat and pick a stance to fight whatever's roaming the current location. Every action levels its matching skill a little, and those levels quietly compound into real stat gains over the course of a long session.

Crafting spans seven disciplines — tinkering, butchering, cooking, woodworking, smelting, forging and alchemy — turning gathered materials into gear across eleven-plus equipment slots. Travel between locations for quests, trade with local merchants, and find a bed when your health or stamina run low; sleeping heals you and fast-forwards the clock while you wait it out. Progress autosaves in the browser, with manual export and import to a text file as a backup. Open-source game by Miktaew, used under the MIT license.

How to play Idle Realms

Create a character — name, race, height and age are purely cosmetic — then click a gathering action like woodcutting, mining or fishing to start leveling a skill, or switch to Combat to fight whatever's at your current location. Skill levels raise your stats and unlock crafting recipes across seven disciplines, which you use to build better gear for eleven-plus equipment slots. Travel to new locations for tougher fights and quests, and return to a bed to sleep off low health or stamina. Save from the bottom bar at any time, or export to a text file for a manual backup.

Controls

Everything is click or tap — action buttons, tabs and menus — so it works on a touchscreen, but the dense UI is easier to read on desktop.

Tips & tricks

  • Don't ignore the Sleeping and Regeneration skills — leveling them makes every rest at a bed heal more and pass time faster, which matters once fights start costing real health.
  • Check what a location actually offers before you settle in to grind — some are built for gathering, others for combat, and working the wrong skill in the wrong place wastes real time.
  • Craft your own gear instead of just wearing whatever drops — the seven crafting disciplines exist because self-made equipment usually outpaces what you find early on.
  • Export your save to a text file every so often. It's a five-second habit that protects hours of progress if you ever clear your browser data.

Game features

  • 100% free to play — no payment, ever
  • Plays instantly in your browser — no download or install
  • Works on desktop, phone and tablet
  • No sign-up and no email required
  • Built with HTML5 — runs on any modern browser
