About Yukon Solitaire
Yukon looks like Klondike until your first move. There is no stock and no waste — every one of the 52 cards is dealt at the start, most of them face up, and the missing draw pile changes everything. Instead of waiting for the right card to turn up, you go and dig for it: any face-up card can be moved along with the entire stack sitting on top of it, even when that stack is a complete mess.
The game becomes a plan of excavations. Each column hides up to six face-down cards, and every move either exposes one or sets up the move that will. The best turns are the ones where you drop a jumbled six-card pile onto a single red nine because the buried card underneath is the ace you have been circling for three minutes.
If Klondike has gone automatic for you, this is the version that makes you think again. Undo is unlimited, the timer and move counter keep you honest, and once the last face-down card flips, auto-finish sends everything home.
Where Yukon Solitaire comes from
Yukon is a close cousin of Klondike whose inventor is unrecorded: its earliest known description is in Albert Morehead and Geoffrey Mott-Smith's Complete Book of Solitaire and Patience Games of 1949, which lays out the first 28 cards 'as for Klondike' and then deals the rest of the pack face up on top, leaving no stock at all. What sets it apart is that any face-up card can be moved together with everything piled on it, in order or not, so the whole game is about digging out the cards that are buried. How to play Yukon Solitaire
Build the four foundations from Ace to King by suit. On the tableau, move any face-up card — together with every card stacked on top of it, in any order — onto a card one rank higher of the opposite colour. Only Kings (with their stacks) may fill empty columns, and newly exposed face-down cards flip automatically. There is no stock: all 52 cards are on the table from the deal.

Tips & tricks
- Free the face-down cards before anything else — a move that flips one is nearly always better than a tidy-looking move that doesn't.
- Hold low cards back from the foundations. A two or three still in play is a landing spot for the ace-hunt; once it goes home it stops working for you.
- An empty column is worth more than the King you fill it with — choose the King whose stack is trapping the most face-down cards, not the first one you can move.
- Read what is under a stack before you move it. Groups don't need to be in sequence, so the question is never whether you can move a pile — it's what moving it uncovers.
