Chalk up for a classic 8-ball match against a computer opponent on a green felt table. Aim with the mouse, charge your shot, and sink your set before the AI clears its own.

About Billiards Classic

Billiards Classic is a straightforward top-down take on 8-ball, played out on a single green table with real ball-on-ball physics instead of scripted pockets. From the main menu you choose Player vs Player for a local pass-the-mouse match, or Player vs Computer to take on a built-in AI opponent. Whoever's turn it is aims by moving the mouse, which swings the cue stick around the white ball in real time.

Power comes from the keyboard: hold W to wind the stick back and build up force, S to ease off, then click to strike once you like the angle. The first ball you legally pot decides your group for the rest of the frame — red or yellow — and sinking a ball out of turn, missing your group, or committing a foul hands the table straight back to your opponent. Clear your seven and pot the black cleanly to win. Open-source game by Chen Shmilovich, used under the MIT license.

How to play Billiards Classic

Pick Player vs Player or Player vs Computer from the main menu to start a match. Move the mouse to aim the cue stick at the white ball, then hold W to build shot power (S backs it off) and click to strike. Whichever color ball you pot first — red or yellow — becomes your group for the rest of the frame, so sink only your own color and avoid fouls like potting the white ball. Clear your seven balls, then pot the black cleanly to win.

Controls

Mouse aims the cue, W and S charge and release shot power, and a click fires — no touch support, so it's a desktop game.

Tips & tricks

  • Watch which color you pot first — it locks in your group for the whole frame, so on the break, aim to sink a ball you can actually follow up on rather than whatever falls in first.
  • Hold W in short taps rather than one long charge; it's easier to stop at the exact power you want than to overshoot and have to release early.
  • Never take a shot that risks sinking the white ball — a scratch hands your opponent the table and can even end the frame if you were aiming at the black.
  • Only go for the black once every ball in your color is off the table; potting it early is an instant foul and loses you the frame.
