Play the Ludo board game online free — against the computer, or pass-and-play with 2 to 4 players on one screen. Roll a six to launch a token, race all four home, and send rivals back to base on the way.

About Ludo

Ludo is the board game that has been settling family arguments for a century, and the reason it never gets old is that it looks like pure dice luck right up until the moment it isn't. Every roll gives you a choice: push your leading token closer to home, drag a straggler out of base, or ignore both and take the long shot at landing exactly on a rival and knocking it all the way back to the start.

That capture is the whole heart of the game. A token sitting six squares in front of an enemy is a token in danger, and once you start thinking that way, the safe star squares stop being decoration and become the places you actually plan your route around. The computer opponents here play the same way — they will take a capture over an advance almost every time, and they avoid parking in front of your pieces — so a win against three of them is a real one. Sixes give you another roll, but three in a row forfeits your turn, which keeps a hot streak from running away with the match.

There are three ways to play: solo against three computer rivals, a two-player duel across opposite corners, or a full four-player pass-and-play on a single phone or laptop. That last mode is the one worth knowing about — it turns any one device into a board that four people can crowd around, with no accounts and nothing to install.

How to play Ludo

You need a six to move a token out of your base and onto your coloured entry square. After that, every roll moves one of your tokens that many squares clockwise around the board. Landing on a square occupied by a rival sends that token back to its base, unless the square is a star or a coloured entry square, which are both safe. Rolling a six, capturing a rival, or getting a token home all earn you another roll — but three sixes in a row forfeits the turn. Bring all four tokens up your home column and onto the centre, which needs an exact roll, to win.

Controls

Desktop: click the dice or press Space to roll, then click the glowing token you want to move — keys 1-4 pick a token directly. M mutes. Touch: tap the dice to roll, then tap the token you want to move.

Is Ludo free to play online?

It is. Ludo costs nothing to play here — no account, no app store, no paywall. Just open the page and go.

Can I play Ludo on mobile?

Yes. Ludo works in any modern mobile browser with full touch support, so it plays on phones and tablets as well as on a laptop or desktop — nothing to install.

Who made Ludo?

Ludo was built in-house by the 360 PlayZone team using open web technology (HTML5), which is why it runs instantly without any download.

Is Ludo unblocked at school or work?

Ludo is a plain web page — no plugin, no installer, no app store — so it loads on a Chromebook or a locked-down school or office laptop the same way any other page does. Whether it opens comes down to your network's filter rather than the game itself, and there is nothing to install either way.

Can two people play Ludo on one device?

Yes — Ludo is built for two people sharing one screen, on a single keyboard or by passing a phone back and forth. You can also play it solo against the computer if nobody else is around.

Does Ludo save my progress?

Yes. Ludo keeps your best score and progress in your own browser's local storage, so it is still there when you come back on the same device. Nothing is uploaded and no account is involved — clearing your browser data is what resets it.

How do you get better at Ludo?

Getting all four tokens out early beats sprinting one token home. With only one piece on the board every roll is forced, and a forced move is how you walk into a capture. Count backwards from your token to every enemy behind it. Anything sitting one to six squares ahead of a rival is inside their strike range, so break that gap or park on a star. The full tips list on this page covers the rest.
