Grid Slice is built on the old logic-puzzle idea where every clue on the board is a rectangle waiting to be found: the number tells you the area, and your job is figuring out the shape and position that makes it true without stepping on any other rectangle. Early boards are small and forgiving, just a handful of clues on a 5x5 sheet. By the time you're working a 12x12 grid, you're juggling two dozen numbers at once, and a rectangle that looked obvious three moves ago suddenly has to be the wrong size because of a 2 stuck in the corner.
The satisfying part is the moment a stubborn section resolves itself, usually because filling in the easy rectangles around it removes all the guesswork. How to play Grid Slice
Every numbered cell is a clue: draw a rectangle over it so the rectangle's area (width times height) equals that number. The preview turns green when a rectangle is legal and red when it isn't. Keep placing rectangles, without letting any two overlap, until the entire grid is covered to win.
Controls
Mouse or finger: press and drag from one corner of a rectangle to the opposite corner, then release to place it; tap or click a placed rectangle to remove it. Keyboard: U to undo, R to reset the level, H for a hint, M to mute.
Tips & tricks
- Start with the clues in corners and along edges — they have far fewer legal rectangle shapes, so they're usually the fastest to lock in.
- A lone clue boxed in by three placed rectangles often has only one shape left that fits the remaining space, even if the number allows several.
- If a rectangle you're dragging keeps turning red, check whether it's sweeping over a second clue — you can only ever capture one number per rectangle.
- Stuck on a dense cluster? Solve the sparser corners of the board first; shrinking the empty space narrows down what's left to just a few possibilities.
