Steer a chain of balls up an endless track of numbered blocks. Every block you push through drains balls one by one, every pickup adds more, and the moment your chain hits zero the run is over. Pick your gaps wisely.
About Ball Chain
Ball Chain is a one-thumb arcade game about arithmetic under pressure. Your chain of balls glides upward on its own while you slide it left and right. Rows of blocks come down toward you, each stamped with a number, and pushing into a block eats one ball per tick until its number reaches zero and it shatters. Pickups scattered between the rows add balls to your chain. The whole game is the half-second decision of which block to pay for, which gap to squeeze through, and whether the pickup on the far side is worth the detour.
The track gets faster and the numbers get bigger as you go, walls between blocks force you into lanes, and some rows have no gap at all, so you have to choose the cheapest block and commit. Three rare power-ups shift the odds: a magnet pulls pickups toward you, a shield makes the next block free, and slow-mo gives you a long breath at full speed. Breaking blocks without stopping builds a combo multiplier, so the bravest lines pay the most.
It is a pure score chaser with a best-score line drawn on the track so you always know how close you are. On a phone it plays portrait with the chain under your thumb; on a desktop the side panels show your chain count, combo and power-ups so nothing covers the track.

How to play Ball Chain
Your chain moves upward by itself. Drag with your finger, move the mouse, or press A and D or the arrow keys to steer it left and right. Pushing into a numbered block drains one ball per tick until it breaks; steer around blocks you cannot afford and through the gaps. Collect ball pickups to grow the chain, grab power-ups when you see them, and keep breaking blocks without pausing to raise your combo multiplier. The run ends when the chain has no balls left.
Controls
Desktop: A and D or Left and Right arrows, or move the mouse, to steer; P to pause, M to mute. Touch: drag anywhere to steer the chain.
Tips & tricks
- Read the whole row before it arrives: the cheapest block is often not the one in front of you.
- Never start a block you cannot finish. A half-drained block still kills a short chain.
- Grab pickups first and blocks second; a long chain turns expensive rows into free points.
- A shield is worth the most on a full row with no gap, so hold it for one of those.
Frequently asked questions
How do the numbers on the blocks work in Ball Chain?
The number is how many balls it costs to break the block. Pushing into it drains one ball per tick until the number reaches zero and it shatters. If your chain runs out first, the run ends.
What do the power-ups do?
The magnet pulls nearby ball pickups to you, the shield makes the next block you touch free, and slow-mo slows the track down for a few seconds. All three are rare, so use them on hard rows.
Does Ball Chain save my score?
Your best score and best distance are saved in your browser, and a marker on the track shows where your previous best run ended.
Does Ball Chain save my progress?
Yes — Ball Chain keeps your best score and settings in this browser's local storage, so they are still there when you come back on the same device. Nothing is uploaded and no account is involved — clearing your browser data is what resets it.
