Rope Swing is a fast, tactile arcade endless runner built entirely around a single action: holding to grapple and releasing to fly. There are no buttons to memorize and no menus to fuss with — just you, a rope, and a horizon that keeps scrolling. Every anchor in the sky is a chance to build momentum through real pendulum physics, and every release is a gamble between height, distance, and the spike-lined pit waiting below. The world is rendered in a cool emerald-and-sky palette with a parallax skyline, drifting stars, taut glowing ropes, and motion trails that streak behind your character as you chain swing after swing. Near-miss moments over hazards trigger a brief slow-motion beat that lets you savor the close call before the camera snaps back to full speed. It is easy to pick up in two seconds and surprisingly deep to master, because distance is purely a product of how well you read each anchor and time each release.
Inside Rope Swing: what we checked
The numbers below come from Rope Swing's own source code, and the screenshots are from our own test run of the game (20 October 2026).
- You do not aim the rope. Pressing hooks the nearest anchor that is above you and between about 60 and 420 pixels away, preferring ones ahead of you over ones behind. If nothing qualifies, nothing happens.
- Distance is counted as how far right of the start you have got, at one metre per 20 pixels, and it never goes down. A "+100", "+200" marker pops up at every hundred metres.
- You only die by falling into a pit. Landing on a platform is safe and just slows you slightly, and about 55% of pits are lined with spikes that kill you a little before you would otherwise drop out of sight.
- The game speeds up with distance: difficulty rises steadily until about 2,000 m, where it stops at 3.2 times the starting level. Pits end up about 1.5 times wider and anchors up to 1.35 times further apart.
- Skim low over a pit and the game briefly drops into slow motion, which gives you a moment to grab a rope.

How to play Rope Swing
Your character launches forward automatically. HOLD your tap (or hold Space) to fling a rope up to the nearest reachable anchor and start swinging on it like a pendulum — the longer and harder you swing, the more momentum you build. RELEASE to let go of the rope and fly forward through the air. Then HOLD again to grab the next anchor and keep the chain going. The goal is simple: travel as far as you can. Reachable anchors glow brighter so you always know where you can latch on. Falling into a pit or touching the spikes ends the run instantly — then you restart and try to beat your best distance, which is saved between sessions. The world speed and gap sizes ramp up the farther you go.
Controls
Touch: press and HOLD anywhere to grab a rope and swing, lift your finger to release and fly. Keyboard: HOLD Space (or hold the Up / W key on the start screen) to grab and swing, release to let go. Press M to mute or unmute sound. Any tap or key starts a fresh run from the start or game-over screen. The control is identical on mobile and desktop — one button, hold to swing, release to soar.
Tips & tricks
- Release at the top of your forward swing, not the bottom — letting go as you rise launches you farther and higher than dropping at the lowest point.
- Grab the next anchor a little late while you are still rising; it preserves your speed and sets up a stronger arc than panic-grabbing the instant one appears.
- Reachable anchors pulse with a bright emerald glow — ignore the dim ones and plan your line two anchors ahead.
- Spike pits trigger a slow-motion near-miss when you skim them; use that beat to confirm your trajectory will clear, but don't rely on grazing them.
